customer ordered a new mobo, cpu, video card and ram and installed them in his machine himself. now his machine won't boot into windows (its XP Home by the way). when i try to go into safe mode it hangs after loading agp440.sys and restarts. i've tried running the recovery console, but he doesn't remember his Administrator password. is there anything i can try other than reloading Win XP?

the motherboard is a Aopen ax4spe, P4 2.6 and 512 kingston ddr400

Ofcourse you need the admin account password. The only other way is maybe using the one of the Winternals utilities thats creates a bootable operating system that emulates Win2k and allows you to check logs, change passwords, services, drivers, all that good stuff. But, I don't know if it requires the admin password to log in. I know there are password recovery programs out there, if they don't want to reload from scratch then charge them the price of the software if you don't have it.

Also try different RAM in the system.
