I can get a serial intelli mouse to work on a PCCHIP BXcel Motherboard, but not a PS/2. The system locks up on Bootup and say no mouse attached. ANY IDEAS PLLLEEASE!!

If the mouse you have indicated Serial/bus mouse combo you okay. If it specific say Ps/2 then it very hard to work. I have a couple MS mouse Ps/2 not working on reg com port.

make sure the connector for the PS/2 mouse is connected properly on the motherboard as this will cause the problem mentioned.

If it is then try a different mouse as a cable could be causing a short in it.

Also try changing the PS/2 header for the BXCel board. I have also seen this problem where the mouse does not fully plug into the port. Drop the header down slightly and the mouse slots in perfectly.

Here's an even more common solution.

Make sure you haven't switched the PS/2 mouse and keyboard plugs in the back. The keyboard being plugged into the PS/2 mouse port will cause the mouse to fail, and obviously it will seem like the system is hung since mouse is where the keyboard is supposed to be and your commands are going into the void.

Very common easy-to-make mistake.
