Hi, i'm helping a friend out. She hasn't used her scanner for a while now, and needs to scan a picture onto the computer.

There are only 2 USB ports, one is being used by her Broadband Modem, and the other is being used by her printer. So we took the printer lead out and plugged it into the back of the Scanner, Plugged the scanner in (the light is on) and then we removed the software for the scanner as nothing worked on the imaging application (the scanner buttion was greyed out), and then re-installed it.

Everything seemed to be fine, load up the imaging application, the scanner button is coloured, but when you click on the button the following error message appears:-

Error
Scanner not found. Please check the following:
(1) USB Setting is enabled.
(2) Power adapter is plugged into the scanner connector.
(3) USB cable is properly connected with the scanner and your PC.

Has anyone else had this problem, or knows of a solution or where i check for the problems. I mean (2) works as power is on, and (3) is checked and appears to be correct. And before we changed the leads from the printer to the scanner the printer worked?

Any ideas

Alot of scanners have issues with daisy chainning the printer to them. I would remove the printer completly and work with just the scanner first. Next check the manufacturers website for instructions on installing the scanner. Some USB devices like to have the software installed and then be plugged in and others dont care. If all of that fails try booting into safemode and removing the usb devices in device manager and letting the os refind them when you reboot. Let me know if this works. Good Luck!

The scanner is likely to be a visioneer.

Loading the latest drivers will often solve this problem.

Possibly a 4400 or 4800
