ps2 and serial port conflict

can I connect a "ps2 version" genius netscroll to a serial port with an adapter (6 to 9 pin)?

Even though intellimice seem to never work properly with an adapter, I've had good luck with the Genius' so far. It should work fine, just make sure you load the software!
