It's a free PC that doesn't come with a hard drive...

Looks like it runs off of the lindows OS thast boots from the CD. Kinda cool, shame it's not outside of Cali.

No reason you can put a HDD in it and slap a micro$oft OS on it to make it useful. :D

No you'd have to put linux on it for that ! ... but hang on that's what it came with in the first place ... kind of ! :butt: :grin:

catch 1, gotta waitt ell next year to get.
catch 2, gotta live or bought software from california
catch 3, just make the claim $100 and you dont have to have proof
catch 4, only the first 10,000 will get it

You are right thouogh. With linux on it you could, um, um, surf the web with mozilla! And, you could, um, um, surf the web some more!

Well, I just sent in my application. Good thing I spent my ENTIRE tour in the Marine Corps in Cali, huh?

June 13, 2004 is when they are supposed to start paying up.......I can be patient tho. If nothing else I'll use it for a router or something.

Done all that... I doubt it will matter/count. Microsoft is going to fight Lindows since no 3rd parties can process the claim for other people. I found it odd that Lindows would actually think they would get a check out of Microsoft.... Just the same I got the free Lindows software (which I don't know if I'll use but I have it) and though I'm pretty sure I am one of the first 10,000 people I am not counting on getting the computer, whatever it is.

I wonder if I could submit a Microsoft approved claim since they are claiming the Lindows offer is not valid?

Not really, lots of people sue M$ and win millions upon millions. Novell got them for something like 400 mil. Usually M$ has to blatently rip off the company that sues it first though.

Well maybe I should have said that differently :)

After reading more about the settlement Microsoft clearly states you have to sign the agreement, not use a digital signature plus no 3rd parties can submit or make the claim on your behalf... obviously they were thinking ahead that this very thing would happen.

I do have to agree with MS on part of the claim process, Lindows clearly did all they could to encourage people to claim the maximum refund regardless if they qualified or not. If people want to hold MS accountable for their deeds the same people should not do whatever they can to rip them off either...

funny thing is, everyone in california that had bought a m$ product one time or another and or registered it at one point, got a settlment form. Everyone in my family got one and lots of friends to.

This is for thr $100 only, but I filled out the form for the free pc, but Since it isnt signed I guess m$ is trying to bring it down
