is there any free scanning software that works with any scanner out there that i can download?

Well, there's the imaging software built into windows. Should be listed under accessories. You will still need to have the driver for the scanner. If you are looking for OCR software, that's another matter. Most of the scanner manufacturers bundle it w/ the scanner, but I'm not aware of a product that you can download for free.

Try "vuescan" at: http//www.hamrick.com I don't know what you want it for but this works with most scanners!
