somehow my puter has lost its ps2 port for the mouse. i put a new stick of 256mg of 133 ram in her this afternoon which turned out to be bad so i removed it and stuck my other ram back in it. sometime later my mouse just quit working all together. i restored a ghost file to rule out software probs, didnt work. then i hooked up an old serial mouse and its working just fine and another ps2 mouse i know works wont work either. is there some way i can recover from this problem or is my mobo partially shot?

maam the problem is clear. you're simply wearing too many clothes around your cpu.

It's possible that the mobo is shot, but more likely some connector has come loose. If the PS/2 port is not mounted directly on the mobo, it will have several connector wires that might have come loose. Also check for screws under the mobo, they might be shorting something out.
You never know what can happen when you're rooting around in a computer case...

This is a good suggestion as any metal touching the wrong part of your Mobo can cause many problems. I wouldn't rule out device failure but it would be odd that a stick of RAM would have done this pending that it was the correct size and architecture. I'm gathering it was either High Density RAM on a board that couldn't handle it or just DOA ram? In any event I would check Mac's suggestions and also check your mouse. Most are usually only held together with two screws and are pretty easy to take apart. I've seen some where a user was pulling on the mouse cord to hard and the connector inside came loose and it didn't work anymore until I shoved it back in.
