I am using Windows XP Home and have installed a Pioneer DVD-ROM 114 from another computer. It has been recognised ok but I do not have a driver for it. Can anyone please let me know where I can download a suitable driver? The Pioneer site is of no help. Both computers are HP

No drivers are needed for XP to recognise a DVDROM and read from data discs. You will, however, need some software to play DVD movies. Power DVD and many other programs will solve that particular problem. http://www.maximusdvd.com/ have a free DVD player, I've not tried it so I don't know if it's any good or not.

I notice that the latest version of Windows Media Player 9 will supposedly play DVDs. I haven't tried it. But, I do distinctly remember that a version a few months back would NOT play DVDs. It feels like it only plays DVDs now that I have another piece of software that does the job... I'm prolly just being paranoid though.

I was under the impression that Windows Media Player will only play DVDs if you have a third party decoder installed. I use PowerDVD 5 that came with my Sony DVD±RW. Works fine for me.
