I have setup a SBS 2003 Server but I thibk im right in saying that if I login to one workstation and receive my e-mails and then move to another W/S when I login my mail will not be shown as it saved to the local profile??

If thats the case how can I configure 'Roaming Profiles" so that if I login to a different W/S my mail is the same???

P.S: Sorry if this is unclear but it's kinda difficult to explain!

It depends on what mail client you are using. If the mail is stored on the server you could access it from anywhere.

But with roaming profiles his whole documents and settings profile is stored on the server so all of his info would be there instead of locally... which includes the folders that would NORMALLY contain his pst or dbx files if it were set up locally... so in theory you should be able to get all your mail anywhere you login within that network...

Again, it depends on what mail client he is using. With Outlook it is true, while for Lotus Notes some .nsf files such as personal address book and archived mail are stored by default on the workstation, in the program folder.

We are using windows 2000 and set up roaming profiles by creating a group policy with folder redirection, only the my documents folder goes to \\server\users\username. In the account\profile tab we set the profile to be stored at \\server\profiles\username.

We are not using exchange, but send mail (Internet mail accounts) and put a folder in my documents to hold the .pst and .pab files, set their Outlook to use these once we have established the my documents folder is on the server.

So far, it's working pretty good. Sometimes an account loses a little something, usually it's something big like their Outlook settings. BUt hten we re-establish their account and it's back. Roaming profiles are not as stable as local porfiles, but that's what management wants.
