Maybe I am crazy, but I believe I used to be able to do this:

With Windows 2000 Professional login to the corporate VPN Server running Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003 and then connect to shares without retyping credentials for each new resource.

I am connecting to a domain and have the Username, Password, and Domain Fields populated correctly. I connect fine, but on Windows 2000 Professional I have to type in my username/password with each resource I try to contact (i.e. \\servername\sharename).

When I connect with a Windows XP Pro or Home computer it works fine. I thought it might be something to do with a later service pack on the client, so I also tried loading the "Gold" Version of 2000 Pro. Still no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like 2k pro is not providing the correct credentials. Do you login to your machine (before vpn) with differing user names or user type (admin, power user etc) ?

Yeah, I login as the local admin or local user as I normally would and everytime I try to connect to a resource (even on the same server) I get prompted for username and password. This happens inside my network (internal interface) and on the outside interface as well so I know it isn't a firewall issue.

I am just wondering if maybe they have not changed something in a Service pack that would break this. It happens both on 2k and 2k3 Servers but all I have are post SP3 2k Servers to test on.

I received a tip from someone else that it is a problem with 2k Pro in that it broke something in passing on credentials to the RAS Server.

Also, if I connect with a computer that is joined to my AD domain, it works as it used to. But I know I have had remote users connect from home to work on our shares before without having to type in username and password each time. Even done it myself in the past. What could be different now?

Is anyone else having this problem? It seems like only me.
