Can you tell us what program the error message says is making the dynamic link, and what .DLL file it says it is linking to? confus-ed February 14th, 2004, 09:05 AM ..so that's be a request for the exact error message then ? :D Whether it is or ain't ... post it anyway ! :) I can think of more reasons than Platypus suggests as to the cause ... but the error message 'ought' to make it all clear ... (Now no doubt I shan't have a clue when you do post it ! :D ) Please also confirm which operating system & whether it is 'all patched up', a note on any AV or Firewall lurking is often handy too .. pancolt February 14th, 2004, 01:21 PM Welcome to WinDrivers, pancolt. Msgloop.exe is Background program which gets installed with the drivers for older sound cards based on the Crystal chipset (eg. Adlib Audio, Aztech, Acer). Description : A WaveStream component which is provided to hook up with the Brooktree WaveStream CD, also called the "Brooktree WaveStream Message Server". This background program is also present in the drivers for more modern sound cards but in this case MSGLOOP.EXE is called the "Conexant WaveStream Message Server". These sound cards are often found in Hewlett-Packard PCs and some Compaq PCs. Wmexe is Background program which gets installed with the 3Com or US Robotics Winmodem type of modems. The utility probably spotted it as some sort of missing Dll and made an erroneous association. Also, we really do need the exact error message. IF you can press the PAUSE key on your keyboard next time it comes up - and write it down, we could look it up. IF you can press the PAUSE key on your keyboard next time it comes up - and write it down, we could look it up. (and figure out what's going on) the mssg was(your program is making an invalid dynamic link call to a.DLLfile) what it was is that a videocard that had been put in to replace the onbord video had been removed, put a card in and bingo, only now i get a regsvr32 mssg but its not keeping me from useing the machine, just got a new mssg to deal with .THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR INPUT....... Platypus February 19th, 2004, 08:06 AM Did you un-install the driver for the video card before reverting to the onboard? What I'd suggest trying is, setup the system to whichever you intend to use, video card or onboard, and change your video driver to Windows own standard VGA driver. Re-start the system in Safe Mode (if you're not familiar with Safe Mode, hold down the Ctrl key as the system re-starts, when a menu appears, choose the Safe Mode option). In Safe Mode, look at the Display Adapters in the Device Manager and you should see listed any previous video drivers (often referred to as phantoms or ghosts). Remove any except the standard driver referred to above. Re-boot and install the correct drivers for what you are now using, and see if this resolves the problem. erica775 July 27th, 2004, 09:02 PM Hey, guys. I am having the same error message, my husband was looking at pictures of naked women on the web and started getting rapid-fire pop-ups and now I can't start the computer (WinME). he error message reads "Your program is making an invalid dynamic link call to a .dll file" and then if I close the window and try to double click something on the DT it eventually locks up. Start button doesn't even respond. I'm tempted just to get a new computer and not let him touch it (can you say "password?") but I need the .mny Microsoft Money file out of the damn thing. It is too big for a floppy, I need the CD burner. Any ideas? -Erica GrandDad July 27th, 2004, 09:18 PM Hey, guys. You can start here ; http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=57348 go thru the steps and start you a new thread under section 'Anti-Virus' and ask any questions there and when you've done SpyBot and all you can post a 'HiJackThis' log so we can help get rid of anything left . Good hunting . :) erica775 July 28th, 2004, 02:59 PM Thanks, Grand Dad but as of today, after I click close on the error message box, it just goes to white screen. no icons or start button or anything. The F8 key doesn't elicit a response. Guess I'll try starting it with the Norton SystemWorks CD in and pray. Thanks for trying to help me though! -Erica NooNoo July 29th, 2004, 08:56 AM You could try an install over and see if that clear it - if your restore cd's allow that - some only wipe the drive. Alternatively you could put your drive in someone elses machine (make sure it has good antivirus and is uptodate) and rescue your money file that way. windrivers.com
