Hey Gang,

I am pretty new to creating my own music CD's so bear with me. I copied some CD's from a friend. When I copied them 'on the fly' they came out fine. When I then copied them to my hard drive and tried to re-copy them to disk (so I could choose which songs I wanted to keep) I ran into problems.

I am using Windows Media Player 9, and Nero 5.5. The file extensions of the files I am trying to copy are called CDA's or .cda.

When I use Nero to copy the cda files from the hard drive to CD and call it an AUDIO cd, I get the error below:'

However if I copy the files over from the hard drive to CD and tell Nero it is DATA cd, I can burn successfully.

However when I try to play the music that's I've now recorded I get an error saying "Windows Media Player Cannot Find the Specified File"

Does anybody know what's going on?

Thanks,
Orangeman:confused:

Hey Gang,

I think I know what's going on. For some unknown reason I only copied the first 44 bytes of the file. I tried it by seeing if I could copy the contents of the entire CD on to a 3.5 floppy and it worked..

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to copy invididual songs over from one CD to another CD?

You'll need to rip each track to a .WAV file (must be 44.1 KHz 16bit stereo if ripping program offers options), then burn the .WAVs to a new CD. The project will need to be for a Music CD, and once you have the individual tracks as .WAVs, you can leave out tracks you don't like, rearrange them if you wish, or add extra tracks according to the capacity of the blank and how much space the original tracks take up.
