need help with install cd rom

I have IBM thinkpad 560x, with external driver from A to the CD, I format my hard driver, and know I cannot boot from the cd rom.

You must go into the bios and make sure the machine recognizes your new cdrom drive, if you need to boot off of the cdrom you need to go into the BIOS and change the first boot device to cdrom or at least enable cdrom booting. If you do not know how to get into your bios then I suggest you have a professional work on your machine.
