I need to set up a SecureFTP server for one of the big guys here. I'm looking for both client and server. It needs to run on WindowsNT-XP, use port 443 using SSH or SSL, be easy to use (at least the client anyway) and hopefully free. Anyone done anything like this before?

Right I shan't make a 'recommendation' since the lovely F word (free) also implies a certain amount of 'unsupportedness & lack of ongoing testing', personally I 'nail' any 'must be secure' connections inside a VPN ..

Secure FTP 101 (http://www.intranetjournal.com/articles/200208/se_08_14_02a.html) (an article) looks at some of the why's & wherefores, which I can't be bothered to run through, What is the difference between SSH and SSL? (http://www.rpatrick.com/tech/ssh-ssl/) which is also worth a read (maybe not for kymera, but definately others ;))

To be getting a 'recommend' you are gonna have to tell us a fair bit more ..

I read it anyway. The thing is that there are so many different products. I'm really just looking for suggestions. What have you used that you liked?

VPN was really my first thought, but unfortunately circumstances (mainly proximity to me, I'm not going to Ohio) is a limiting factor. I figure an FTP session secured with SSH/L would be sufficient. As for why this is being done? I don't know. I've been described as a bullet: just point me in the direction you want to go and pull the trigger. I get the job done.
