please help

Hi all,
I'm a newbie. I stupodly down loaded a file today which I was assured was safe. It was not. The file has already caused several errors and is making cookies of every site i visit. it's malware and i don't know how to get rid of it.
(1) how do i erradicate this file c:\docume~1\ribert~1kra\locals~\temp\jvm8.tmp?
I receive stock quotes from this company and like there product. however the product has been giving me trouble latelly and have had several arguments with the director of their technical services about rectifing these problems. i know he is responcible for sabatoging my desktop.He has already slowed my desktop with xxx popup, making new windows come up very slowly, hijacked my browser, etc. i do i get myself of this jam?
(2) are there any legal remedies i can persue?

Please help!!!

it sounds like you've got spyware/malware/crapware problems

I would start with downloading Adaware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) to fix things up. Download it, Install it, Update the Reference File, and run a scan.

Please help!!!If this company gives you stock quotes but then also advertises with xxx pop ups and Hijacks your browser, you really have to ask yourself what kind of company are you dealing with.

Personally I wouldn't trust anything from a company that also has to advertise porn to make a dollar. (Hope you dont buy any of the stocks they quote you??)
If they were a succesful online business they wouldnt need any pop up adverts at all, let alone porn. Get rid of their crap and then bush them quick smart.

A 'little' harsh perhaps ? or maybe they didn't realise to say why/how/what wasn't 'doing it' or 'whatever' .. ?

Maybe adaware didn't 'get' it ? .. so methinks maybe spybot ot HijackThis can ?..

Both of which are 'tried & trusted' (at least around here) 'malware' removers .. google for downloads for them ;) ..

..sits back & waits for another 'horrendously long & complicated' HijackThis log to get posted ..

Ah-ha .. didn't see that bit before .. probably not ! Just by installing you effectively 'agreed' to 'whatever' it might be up to .. that's usually the case & how they 'continue to get away with it ' .. ;) - you agree to installing one thing which then installs another as part of that, but they don't 'make clear' what 'all' of it does together, by linking up loads of EULAs (End User Licence Agreements) & chuck in a degree of confus-ed-ness just to make sure ..

So don't use the product ! simple ..

Thanks all,
have skybotted, ad-awared, and hijacked it. heres whathijacked this found: started from c:\documents and settings\ribert p. krason\local settings\temp\temporary directory 4 hijack this program, zip\hijackthis.exe. HOW DO I ERADICATE THIS PROBLEM FOREVER? HOW do i get into c:\documents and settings? i've tried but was told access was denided.
also i went into my tempory folder and saw hundreds of sites had been accessed on 3/30/04 when this started and not accessed by me. also, every site i go to a site its cookied. PLEASE I have to eliminate this VERY BIG PROBLEM. HOW do i do it? Thanks so much for all the help.
