internet connects but no surfing...

hi... i'm having problems with my moms computer she had me look at..
when i looked at it.. it had all kinds of spyware, pests, in viruses. i removed all the spyware using Ad-ware and viruses using pc-cillin.. it's funny because it already had norton antivirus and it did'nt detect anything. but anyways all hardware is working fine .. i can connect to the internet via dsl pppoe but when i open up internet explorer i can't open up any web sites can anyone help.... here are the specs..

athlon2200+
msi-6738 mainboard w/ sound + video
256 pc2100
windowsXP Pro

Try using the Network Setup Wizard (I think that is what it's called) to re-setup the internet connection. I have done this in the past on a couple PCs and it has worked. Good luck! :)

try running Spybot Search and Destroy from here. (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download) Often spyware and/or viruses will change your network components. Spybot fixes them. Adaware doesn't (i believe). You can also try downloading the Layered Service Provider fix from here. (http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm)
