I'm using Windows 98 and have encountered some problems with it. Several years ago, I purchased 98SE but never installed it. If I install the second edition now, will I loose my files that I had on the old 98? Also, do I have to delete 98 before installing 98SE? Thanks.

No you will not lose any files upgrading to 98se. It is a very easy upgrade as you will not run into any compatibilty issues. All your files will be there. Just boot up put the disk in and upgrade thats it.

Welcome to Windrivers jcowens and echosys.net
98 and 98SE are different, very different - it only becomes apparent when you try to run new hardware on 98.
98se can upgrade a 98 installation, but ONLY if it's an upgrade disk. If you use an oem or a retail disk the results are mixed. This is because there are some significant changes in the way 98se handles hardware. So while echo is correct, it will upgrade, you may find you have very odd problems that are hard to track down.
jcowens, what type of 98se did you buy? What does it say on the cd?
