NooNoo April 8th, 2004, 06:21 PM Which discs, which sort of optical drive, what model number? What players do you have installed? djspitfire April 8th, 2004, 07:40 PM it is not reading nay discs like games and stuff like that NooNoo April 9th, 2004, 06:39 AM And the information about what make and model is? confus-ed April 9th, 2004, 08:01 AM it is not reading nay discs like games and stuff like that So while you answer what make & model .. you might try booting from your original xp cd (set that in bios) to test whether the unit is working or not .. this is the 'simplest most reliable' test to figure out whether the unit or pc (cables &/or ide controller) is faulty rather than software based (to boot from cd it uses bios routines rather than windoze). Windows can 'see the drive' & has assigned it a drive letter ? What messages if any do you get back ? kato2274 April 9th, 2004, 08:07 AM ughh! had something very similar happen on my work machine. the only way the drive would recognize cds was to put in the cd and reboot the machine. spent hours troubleshooting. . . .never found a viable solution. reformatted and reinstalled XP and it's been good ever since. . . .http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/sad2.gif windrivers.com
