I just bought a new Dell that came with XP. I would like to reformat the drive and install 2000, since most of my software operates in it. What is the best way to do this? I want to make sure XP is properly removed before installing 2000. Thanks!

First i would make sure that your software will not operate in XP, since most software for 2000 does..wiping XP will cause your Dell warranty to not be honored as far as the operating system is concerned

I don't know of any 2k software that doesn't run in XP.
If you don't like the interface, switch it to windows classic... looks just like 2k then.
Oh and welcome to Windrivers :)

If you need to confirm the applications' compatibility with WinXP, check out NT Compatible (http://www.ntcompatible.com/).
But like NooNoo, I haven't yet seen a single piece of code out there that does not operate on Win2000 that does not also work on WinXP.
