I am having real difficulty determining whether my ISP is the problem or my PCTel HSP modem is the problem. I have called my ISP five times in last week and my connection is still slow. I was wondering if there is a simple test to do on my modem to see if it is ok or if it is my ISP. I don't seem to have any problems in the Device Manager but I am new to this stuff so I may be overlooking the problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! This site - http://www.teleport.com/~curt/modems.html - has a wealth of general information. Much of it is/was about older modems, but the general concepts remain unchanged. I found the site very useful when I faced similar sounding problems. Good luck!

Check out the troubleshooting FAQ at www.56k.com (http://www.56k.com) . There's loads of info for checking phone lines etc.
