Hello all, first time user here. I am trying to download pictures from my digital finepix a205 camera to my computer. I have in stalled the software that came with it, reinstalled it, downloaded the new drivers from there website, still doesnt work. All the camera setting are right. When I connect the camera via usb to my computer it says " New hardware Detected" but doesnt show up in my computer. In the Device Manager under Other Devices there is a yellow ? on USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE and reads out an error, device not configured properly code 1. I have installed the xp sp1 patch and updates and still nothing. I am going nuts trying to figure this out. I am running windows xp home edition and have a hp pavilion computer. Any help would be appreciated.

Try running the Intel INF Update Utility. ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-support/6936/eng/infinst_enu.zip It may be that Windows is not correctly recognizing your chipset. There is also a bios update available which appears to address some usb issues. http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/softwareDownloadIndex.jhtml?reg=&cc=us&softitem=pv-17658-1&prodId=hppavilion326411&lc=en&plc=&sw_lang=en&pagetype=software

OK boot to safe mode, uninstall the software, remove/uninstall the usb hubs and controllers from device manager. Reboot. DO NOT PLUG IN THE CAMERA

Allow windows to find the usb hubs/controllers
Reboot, when it has got completely to desktop, install the camera software DO NOT PLUG IN THE CAMERA

Reboot, when its got completely to desktop, now plug in the camera, ensuring the camera is already powered up.
