I have a Compaq Presario 4712. It is a Pentium I with Windows 95. The Compaq Fax and phone center that came preinstalled no longer works. I can no longer use the fax. The modem for internet access is fine.

Here is the error message that I get:

CPQPhone.exe is linked to missing export MAPI32DLL.140.

Any ideas where I can get this DLL file?

Thanks.

Tom

It's built in to Windows 95. A reinstall of Windows will cure your problem, even though it seems like overkill, it will fix any registry "bugs" at the same time.

Reboot,

Are you saying to wipe out the hard drive and then reinstall Windows? If I do that I'll have to reinstall a bunch of applications and data files that I've accumulated. I'm trying to avoid that.

Nope. Just insert the CD, rename win.com to win.bak in the C:\windows directory, and then click Start, Run, D:\setup or whatever your CD drive letter is.
Reinstall over top. Will keep all your current settings for desktop etc, and keep all your programs, software and data intact.
