Exchange mailbox

Can anyone suggest why, when I create a user, their mailbox is not created. I am including a mailbox alias which, by excluding it, is the 'official' way of not creating a mailbox for a user. The OS is Windows SBS 2003 with Exhchage Technology, ie Exchange is built into the OS. The basic user account is there as I can log in using the new account name. The OS has licences for 30 users with 23 in use.

PS The original users all created ok and have been in use with no problems

Hi Callingman....

How have you created the user? By going into Active Directory or using the Server Management Console?

I've had this on one out of the 10 I've installed so far, for some reason it seems to take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 days to create the mailbox. Re-booting the server or starting and update now on the Policies within System Manager for Exchange, can sometimes speed things up.

I've also found using the Server Management Console to create the user more reliable...

Are you looking for the Mailbox to show up in the Exchange System Manager or just having problems creating the Mailbox?

If you are waiting for the Mailbox to show up in the Exchange System Manager. The Mailbox will not appear until the user as logged on through Outlook, OWA, or recieved an Email.

Good point.... remember the first Exchange server I put in, created 100 users with no mailboxes showing in system Manager, very panicky....
