real big problem

i dont know if this is a related topic but i really need some help... my little brother has done something while i was out and now all my .exe files come up with this message "this archive is either in unknown format or damaged" i tried seeing if i could change any options on winrar etc but nothin seems to be there... does anyone know how i can get around this???

Sounds like you got a virus. Try the online scan from this website.

Once it's done you may have to get a specific virus removal tool to get rid of it. A good spot for those is www.symantec.com .

hmmm... this is where the problem comes in more... i have tried to use tools available but the error stops me from opening them and im back to square one... my brother told me that he clicked an option so that exe files will be opened with winrar or something... and i think i just need to get this option off but i cant find it anywhere

Sounds like the file type .exe has been associated with WINRAR. If this is the case then:

Open My Computer
Tools......Folder Options
File Types
Look for .exe in the list of registered file types, if its there delete it.

hmmm i tried tht but there wasnt any exe file extension there... thx for your help btw ppl im very grateful

Try uninstalling winrar to see if it reverts back to previous settings.

ok i done it now alls i did was created a exe file extension and it showed up as a rar format so i clicked restore to default and everthing is back to normal :D thx for your help guys u edged me closer each time

Can you right on a .exe type file and select Properties and see at the bottom were it says Attributes what is checked marked ? I believe most should be checked Archive .
Other wise have him show you exactly what he did and maybe you can undo it .
