I have a Windows XP that was upgraded from a Windows ME. With the Windows ME I was able to change the screen resolution from 800x600 pixels. But when I changed the resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 pixels I received an error. The monitor went to black and a blue box came up that said Out of Range. After rebooting instead of bringing up the Welcome screen the Out of Range creen comes up. If anybody could help it would be appreciated.

Welcome to Windrivers Duchello

You need to boot to safe mode - that is hit the f8 key before windows starts, but after the bios screen has passed, on new machines that gives you a window of about a nanosecond.....

When it's in safe mode, turn the resolution back down. Then you need to check you have the best driver for your video card and your monitor. We can help with that if you can tell us what it is. If you have a branded machine such as hp, dell, compaq, then give us the exact model number.

[FONT=Arial]I am having the same problem with XP, but the situation seems to appear after the last mass download of patches from Windows Update. The computer boots all the way to the opening screen, but there is nothing on the monitor. FONT] . I suspected that downloading the nVIDIA driver from Win UD was doing the job, but now I don't know.

Did you try booting to safe mode?
