Epson Stylus Color 500 Printer Won't Print

[COLOR=DarkOrange]MY EPSON STYLUS COLOR 500 IS CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH EPSPMGR4: INITIALISATION FAILED, COULD NOT OPEN THE SPOOL FILE. I AM RUNNING WINDOWS 98, AND HAD NO TROUBLE UNTIL I HAD THE HARDDRIVE FORMATTED RECENTLY. I HAVE TRIED UNINSTALLING & INSTALLING THE APPROPRIATE DRIVERS, NUMEROUS TIMES. I CAN PRINT ONCE, AND THEN I HAVE THE ABOVE MESSAGES. HELP!!!!! :rolleyes:

Try booting to safe mode (press f8 just before windows starts to load) and uninstall your printer - and any other printers. Then go to device manager and remove the lpt1 printer port. Shut down and disconnect the printer from the computer. Reboot to normal mode, windows should detect the lpt1 port.

Now install the drivers for windows 95 (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=14426&prodoid=8252&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows) or use the windows 98 add printer wizard to use the 98 drivers. When installed, shut down. Connect your printer back to the pc and start it again. The printer wizard may run again, if so, accept the install.
