Should we impeach Bush?

A local lawyer who is a part time prosecutor brought this up today. He said he won't vote for Bush despite the fact he is an avowed conservative. He said that everyone seems to have overlooked the Constitution.
He then went on line and showed me this:

5. Article II, Section 4 provides:
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of , Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

He said he read Plan of Attack and in it Woodward said he was told by the Bush people that Saudi Arabia's Prince Bandar promised Bush that they would bring down the price of oil for the Presidential election.
He said since Bush is pushing the book on his website and never denied that he secured such a promise from Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia that he believes their should have been an investigation.

He further said that when a law mentions a specific instance of how it applies it carries greater weight than other references. He said that means that bribery is specifically mentioned because it is considered a specific example of when the law applies. Therefore there is evidence of a crime and it has not been pursued. He said if he were the Attorney General he would have sent subpoenas out immediately.

I thought this was quite interesting.

It's only gonna be another few months before the elections. Let him make himself a fool until then. :) The more he denied the facts that he is a bad president, the more chance he won't win the next election.

A bribe is payment for a promised action, usually against the rules of a station. This Saudi prince is definitely being friendly, but for a conviction, the prosecution would have to prove that Bush did/is doing something he wouldn't be doing without this offer. What this Saudi is doing is dicking around with our election for what he thinks will be the benefit of his country.

The problem here is that the promise of lowered oil prices is not illegal unless Bush offers something in return. If you can prove that Bush did something he would not have done because of promised payment, than you have a clear cut case for a bribery charge. Otherwise all you have is an influential group of people being influential. It's not very tasteful, but it isn't illegal either.

I actually think a President thats getting laid on a regular basis is healthier than one thats not.
I wouldn't want a frustrated guy in the White House with his finger on the button.

Techs you do realize that every single president from around Truman's time give or take a pres or 2 to Bush jr has done this correct? Why should it be such a shock to you or anyone that this goee on?

Actually I think he is right. But this information is not "shocking!" Nor is it front page news, except for maybe Dan Rather or the NYTimes. It has been well known within Washington that Bush Jr, Clinton, Bush Sr, Reagan, Carter, Ford and beyond have done this.

Wouldn't surprise me about Bush Sr. but that particular vice is entirely non-partisan. All sorts of US presidents of both parties throughout history have had a little something on the side... it's just that very few of them have ever suffered much professionally for it...
