HI Guys,
Here's my dilema..i'm trying to add a XP client to join my home test domain on W2K3 box. I was wondering if it would be still possible to see each other with their built in Firewalls on in both the client/server machines. Whether there was a choice in the XP Firewall somewhere to add my client IP as in the trusted zone (way itz done in ZoneAlarm). I have ZoneAlarm Pro installed on my client machine (currently disabled) but was wondering if it was possible & advisable just to have it work w/ the XP firewall and whether that alone was even dependable ?

I can add the client to the domain when both the XP firewalls are turned off. But I would wanna leave the firewall on on both and so was wondering if there was a way around it. IF NOT, I always have Zone Alarm to fall back on.

Thanks for any feedback...Appreciate it.

The XP firewall is extremely insufficent in the configuration options available. They are improving on it some with Service Pack 2. MS never intended it to be used in a domain environment. In their view, if you are runing a domain you should be going through an ISA server or the likes. There are even many downfalls to the "Personal Firewall" programs when it comes to running them on domain clients, especially on a system with multiple users that have multiple security policies.

Turn if off while configuring the machine... there is no control over what it does.
