DVD+RW on Presario - Burn PRobl

Hi, I have a laptop Presario X1015us, with a DVD+RW DW-P50A (firmware updated to 1.8f). I am also installed Nero Burn Rom 6.3.1.17. I am new on the DVD burns and I bought a Sony DVD-R 120 min or 4.7 gb (DMR47) and I noticed that the back of DVD is purple.

I want to burn some files, totalizing 3.35 gb. Nero recognized the blank DVD, I selected all my files and no mutisession on DVD-ROM (ISO) option on Nero. However, after cached all files, it stopped saying "Illeagal Disc", burn process failed at 1x (1.385 KB/s).

What would be the problem? On the DVD-R buying? on Nero?

it needs to be a DVD+R or +RW disc

For the life of me, I don't understand why two standards for DVD ever emerged.

There are basically three kinds of DVD Writers, DVD-RW, DVD+RW AND DVD±RW. As GrandDad mentioned, the first two only writes to specific DVD media, i.e. DVD-RW drive writes to DVD-R or DVD-RW, and DVD+RW drive writes to DVD+R or DVD+RW. The third one writes on both types of media.

So, you have to buy the DVD+R or DVD+RW disk to copy DVD's on your drive.

Hello, I've a Presario 2565ea with dvd+ writer (dw-p50a) with firmware updated to 1.8f and I can't burn on imation dvd+rw 4x.
I thought that updating the firmware will solve my problem but isn't it.
Have somebody any idea?.

Welcome to windrivers blastman

Not all dvd media is compatible with every drive. Your burner can use 4x media but will only burn at 2.4 maximum. Imation do not appear on the list of sony recommended media.

What are you using to burn - easy cd, recordnow, nero? Have you checked for updates?
