I have this box with an Asus CUV4X-E MOBO penitum 1GHZ chip with 256 MB ram, 20 gig Western Digital HD Iomega 25MB Zip drive on the HD controller, Acer DVD , and Plextor 16X CD-RW on the secondary conrtoller. Running Win ME.
The problem is that more times than not the drives on the secondary controller just vanish. The POST won't show them, and of course they are not shown on the computer. I have tried swpping the drives, and replacing the cables, but i still have this problem. What could be causing this?

ZIP drive has an IDE connector, not floppy...
Did you try another power supply?
Did you try to update the BIOS?
Did you try another CD drives - may be one of them is causing the problem?
Check for viruses, for example, by using free AVG Antivirus from www.grisoft.com , and keep it updated... Less likely, if it is actually hardware problem, but sometimes virus in MBR can cause second IDE channel diasappear in Windows (but not in BIOS, though)...
