As promised, Ubi Soft has released a new patch (http://www.ggmania.com/leech.php?id=patch&f=farcrypatch12.exe) for Far Cry (http://farcry.ubi.com/), updating their tropical island first-person shooter by Crytek Studios to version 1.2. The release adds Shader Model 3.0 support for GeForce 6-series of videocards, quicksave support, increases run speeds (15%) and sprint lengths(30%), adjustes damage to vehicles, fixes some Punkbuster problems and addresses a large number of gameplay issues. The complete list of changes can be found here (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=452106891&m=441109755). The 65MB patch can also be found on 3DGamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/farcry/), FileRush (http://www.filerush.com/download.php?target=FarCryPatch12.exe), FileFront (http://files.filefront.com/3452777;/pub2/FarCry/Official%20Patches/), FileShack (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=4787), WP (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=19015), Ubisoft (http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9883).

Sorry!

In an unusual move, Ubi Soft Entertainment has recalled the recent version 1.2 retail patch (http://www.ggmania.com/?smsid=16428) for Far Cry, due to "unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations." These matters are mainly due to incompatibilities with several optimisations brought lately to the code, with the intent to please a large number of users." Consequently they have restored the version 1.1 patch. There's no word on when a patched version of the patch will become available.
