ok, this hasn't happened to me until today, and it's quite odd.

when i open up internet explorer, the address and title bar both say http://www.yahoo.com/, which is my homepage.

however, even though the word Done shows up in the bottom left pane, and the title and address bar are right, the page is completely blank. if i right click the blank page, and hit properties, it claims that i'm on yahoo.com, 39891 byte page. if i push either the refresh or the home buttons, it goes and shows yahoo correctly.

has this ever happened to anyone else?

This appears to be the work of a virus or a trojan. Please see a related post on Backdoor Trojan from oshal.

See if you have the same file in your registry and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 or C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32.

nope, i don't have that file on my cpu, and the only mention of it in my registry is from doing the search on my computer.
