Fan site HalfLife2.net is reporting (http://www.hl2world.com/) that Valve Software's Gabe Newell has confirmed that Half-Life 2 is currently in bug squashing mode, and at the current rate the game will be "bug free" in 16 days. In addition, the beta version of Counter-Strike: Source will pre-load on Steam beginning on August 5 with the official launch set for August 10. The beta will contain one map and will be about 300MB. Greg Coomer, product designer at Valve, has confirmed (http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showpost.php?p=591623&postcount=22) that all ATi voucher holders will also be included in the beta. This will be good news for those that don't want to buy Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.

Hmmmm, maybe now I can get the game that I've owned for 7 months......I got it free with my 9800XT but I have a feeling its going to be a letdown.
Do you find it odd that they are saying that its ready shortly after ID said that D3 was done?
Oh yeah, CS sucks

CS does suck, it has since beta 5. I've heard nothing but bad about HL2 since they missed the release date last September. They are supposed to have cut content to move the release date up. It certainly doesn't help my opinion of Gabe that he took several months to finally admit that it wasn't the code leak that caused the delay, just the fact that the game was nowhere near done.
Screw em. I've got Far Cry and UT2K4, and I will soon get Doom3. I don't need Half Life 2.
