Hey guys I just bought a New PC that came with an MSI 48x24x48CDRW/16xDVD Combo Drive. Im running Windows XP Pro and my problem is that it only see's it as a CDRW Drive. When I get into the properties panel it says that its a LITE-ON LTR-52327S and it says that its still a CDR/DVD drive under the type category. Anyone KNow how to rid of this problem so I can at least start watching DVDs. Any Help is greatly appreciated.

Which DVD Player do you use?
I'm not sure about the drive description you gave, but I could not find any drivers for it, yet.
Try downloading this program: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html to determine exact model and brand.

mib, ide devices use the motherboard ide drivers. The dvd drive is an ide device.
Taka86 please use mibs link to find out what motherboard make and model you have.
Taka86 did you buy a bare drive or did it come with a cd? On the cd is a dvd player you will need to play movies. If you didn't get a cd then www.videolan.org does a nice free player to test the drive.
Oh the reason the name is different is because liteon make drives for other people. Msi make motherboards themselves but alot of the other stuff other companies make for them. Windows is just identifying the "guts" of the drive.

ok its a non-namebrand PC. I bought it from one of those Bare Bones PC deals and added stuff together. My Motherboard is a Intel Desktop Board D848PMB with support for Hyper Threading. Hope this info helps me solve my problem.
Im using Cyberlink Power DVD for my player, and my windows is updated.
sorry for the double post, forgot to use the EDIT button instead of the Back button.
