President Bush gave a speech today in Missouri.
Here’s a translation for those who don’t speak “doubletalk”

The heart and soul of America is found right here in Springfield, Missouri
Well, I guess the rest of us are out of luck. Good uniting the country, George.

There will be big differences in this campaign. They're going to raise your taxes, we're not.
Since he was speaking at a college I doubt anyone except George and his entourage are in the top 2 percent so they are the only ones whose taxes would be raised. And since he was speaking at Southwest Missouri State University odds are not many will ever reach the top 2 percent.

Encourage them to do their duty on election day to vote. And when you get them headed toward the polls, make sure you nudge them toward that George Bush/Dick Cheney lever.
Is he saying they should go into the voting booth with them and guide their hands? Might help to punch that chad all the way thru.

Why should the American people give me the great privilege of serving as your President for four more years?…. I'm asking for your vote because so much is at stake: prosperity and peace.
Notice he makes no statement on his record. Just how important being President is.

I'm asking for four more years to make our country safer, to make the economy stronger, to make our future better and brighter for every, single citizen.
Didn’t the 9-11 commission say we aren’t safer? Hasn’t the economy tanked? Aren’t these college students going to be the ones paying back the deficit?

From creating jobs to improving schools; from fighting terror to protecting our homeland, we have made much progress, and there is more to do.
Haven’t we lost jobs? Hasn’t he failed to fund his plan for improving schools? Didn’t the 9-11 commission say we are not safer? So what “progress” has he made?

The jobs of the future will require greater knowledge and higher level skills.
But aren’t some of the best jobs requiring the highest skills being outsourced?

We will expand the use of the Internet to bring high-level training into our classrooms.
Really? Most colleges are already doing that. What is lacking is the money for students to buy computers. Too bad that pesky job creation plan of yours isn’t working.

We've created health savings accounts so families can save, tax-free, for their own health care needs.
Of course the people who need the health care don’t have the money to put into a health care account. Just as well, they don’t have any health care anyway.

I could go on and on. I wonder how ol’Georgie looks himself in mirror without cracking up. “Look there’s someone in the bathroom with me. And he looks just like me!”

Nice!

I'd like to watch the speech. Is there any chance I could find a streaming video of it on the internet somewhere?

Read it and weep. I know I did.

Bush was also in Grand Rapids today (Friday). The way I understand it, when a politician comes to town their intent is to say what we want to hear in hopes that we believe their lies, get a positive feeling for them, and then vote for them. Perhaps his speach was effective and the people in attendance left the facility feeling great about Bush. Unfortunately, the positive feedling was probably short lived as Bush left during the heart of rush hour and created a traffic jam that extended beyond the Upper Peninsula. So much for creating good will. Couldn't he have found a place to speak out by the airport instead of downtown? Kerry will be in town next week spewing out his own mix of lies. I wonder if he will do better with his travel arrangements?
