It seems that some lucky bugger has got DOOM 3 and has posted his reaction on the IGN forums (http://boards.ign.com/Doom_3/b5646/63929546/p1)

The Doom 3 release is even being shared online through P2P networks, its amazing how easily they seem to "steal" a copy before the release.

The game is good but I don't think it lives up to the hype. I thought Far Cry had nicer looking graphics but maybe my system just isn't up to the task. If that's the case there won't be many systems up to the task though...

Try ****ing fantastic. Yeah, that fits. Set detail to high if you have a 5900/9800 pro or better.

I did that and I really love the game I just don't think it lived up to the hype. When did Far Cry come out? I think the enemy AI in FC is better and the graphics are just as good. You do get your money's worth though. It's not like so many of the recent releases. This game is long. When you factor in all the online playing to come Doom 3 has to be one of the best values in gaming history.

You've noticed the great heat and shockwave effects? There are parts that have issues, but on the whole, this is one of the very few games that has completely drawn me in graphics wise. And the sounds, sweet jeebus, there are more than a few effects in the game that will just creep you out.

For all the ATI users, Catalyst 4.9 will be released soon and will improve performance, currently in beta, watch this space.
