Do you actually feel safer these days?

As for me, no I don't feel more safe or less, I just feel more confined. No longer can we meet our family and friends as they depart the plane. No longer can I go to the amusement parks without a metal detector. I see men with machine guns guarding the subway in New York. I have to disclose more about myself and be searched before going in more and more office buildings. I understand that we must protect ourselves, but how much of this is worth what we are losing?

NO really dude, I am serious.

The thing at the airports really bugs me. That was always so cool to be met right when you got off the plane. Why can't we have that anymore? We used to always be checked, but for some silly reason that has all changed in a way that I don't understand.

Going to an amusement park I had to empty all my pockets, remove my shoes and was both wanded and patted down. A ****ing amusement park????? I don't even get that **** at college football games that have over 65000 people in a small area.

How are these things making it safer? Why not spend that money on counterterrorsim to find the guys before they drop a bomb, plane, truck, whatever in our laps where all the armed and armored guys won't make a lick of freaking difference. Lets put these guys back on the streets to arrest those that are breaking actual crimes and have the experts go after the soulless ****s that want to use terrorist tactics against us.

I dunno, I kind of have mixed feelings on this. I think they have to take steps to prevent this kind of $hit from happening again, but at times it just pisses me off when I have to spend an extra 1/2 to an hour standing in line so I can be patted down.

On a side note, all of this has really hindered my ability to sneak beer, flasks, digital recorders and other stuff into concerts with me, which really pisses me off!

Allow me to retort, so you can see things a little clearer. The thing at the airport, I agree, it sucks, but by limiting how many people actually get down to the terminals you eliminated the need to search 10 times as many people, thus the lines move faster and the need for additional security isn't required at the terminals.

The amusement parks, that's private security either owned by the park, or outsourced from a private security company. So their policy to strip your shoes is their own, and you should take it up with the suggestions/complaint department at the park...not with the federal government. I assure you that not all parks go to that extreme. Many only search bags...no frisking, and no metal detectors.

As far as your argument about the counterterrorism, that’s a two tier approach, which is being implemented. The problem is, you can’t find everybody, no matter how good the intelligence is, so until we kill every single terrorist, and educate the world that our intentions are not to take over the world, we will continue to maintain the two tier approach for decades to come…I am sorry to say that, but it’s a matter of reality.

On a side note, I remember years ago going to Heavy Metal concerts being frisked and medal detector swiped...had nothing to do with terrorism, but to prevent any hostilities on the floor from turning into a bloodbath. I considered it par for the course, and appreciated it tremendously. The only thing they needed to stop that they always seemed to miss, was the aerosol can of hairspray. You always had one idiot torch the can during a ballad or something...man that sh!t got hot if you were right next to him.

Eye of the beholder. I personally don't see the guards, neither do probably 90% or more of the rest of the country...you must be near a high profile city, or other monument that would attract a crowd, hence the constant extra security. It's not that bad around the rest of the country

Agreed. We just recently got a sewage system in our town, so there is not really much to worry about protecting around here. Closest I come to seeing armed guards is the idiotic rent-a-coppers armed with Maglites and the big old walkie-talkies guarding the entrances to the football games.

Neither does my 9mm.

My Mosberg did, but it took one time of me being a dip-**** and forgetting to turn it off and missing an important shot, and now it no longer has one either.

Imagine how the "Terrorist Islamic Militant Radical" people of the world feel, i.e. me, we get harassed all over the world now, its like being black 50 years ago (or atleast when they were persecuted).

And being terribly harassed about it, All you need is a beard, or some sort of Arab/Muslim clothes and poof youre evil and probably want to blow something up. Imagine how safe muslims feel in the US, you never know when the police are gonna take you and put you in jail indefinately for a crime that you might commit and might have committed or for no reason at all (Guantanamo Bay)

I got terrorized by a frelling Tundra Mosquito today. Blasted thing came right out of the sun at 12 O'Clock high and sucked me for a pint of blood. And where were the armed guards? They were over there harrassing a poor innocent moose who just happened to wander to close to the Drinking Water Plant. I mean come on I want my tax payer money to protect ME!!! Besides the Moose was lost...he kept saying something about having to find his buddy a dumb old flying squirrel!

If you are in a anti-gun state, then you wont be able to protect youself. It is up to the Gestapo to do it.

I see what you mean, and do agree with you. But also imagine what it is like to be a Christian. All you need is a Bible and to say the words God Bless you, and poof you are a Bible Banger and you want to "force religion" onto people. You are a bigot and a racists if you base your morals on the teachings on God. Plus, you never know when the God Hating Left is going to make it more difficult to openly believe in Jesus and God and force you into seclusion. Dont think so? Read some of the religous threads on here.
