I've been playing it since day 1, and I have to say its pretty scary and damn taking on a system, Im getting about 45-50FPS on med quality @1024X768 with a Radeon 9800XT so I'm getting ready to order me a 6800 Ultra. Anyone else playing? If so, what kind of performance on your box and the specs of the box.
Anyone going to upgrade?

Dont upgrade just yet, I mean youve got a 9800XT for gods sake, maybe old drivers, wait a but for catalyst 4.9(beta now) it will make a difference and save you hundreds of $$$, and try OC :)
Isnt that on your new system?

I've had this video card for about 7 months now, and I've been itching for a reason to go back to Nvidia, well I guess this is it!

Beat it. Loved it.
AXP 1700+ @ 2.32 ghz, 512 MB, GF FX 5900nu @ 510/950. Played at 800x600 high quality, 45fps or better. Resolution doesn't do as much as detail level in this game.

You have a loooooooooong way to go. Doom3 definitely isn't one of those 6 hour shooters.

Just made it to Alpha Lab2. - Playing Veteren Scarier than hell. Oh wait, it is suppose to be hell.
Auto detect set it on High details at 1027 x 768 Anti-Aliasing on 2x - working great.

How do you get it to show your FPS? I never really cared as long as it played smothly. It runs great on my 5950 Ultra at 1024x768 at high quality. I also have a gig of ram and an Athlon 2800. If I play the game before I go to bed I usually have weird nightmares.

I just started playing last night. It took me an hour to "tune" my Radeon 9800 Pro. I actually had to underclock it by about 15MHz on both the memory and accelerator due to overheating issues. Haven't benchmarked it but it still plays just fine on High Quality. Funny thing though, the sonund occasionally cuts out (Audigy 2) and I have to back out of the game and toggle the surround speakers setting to get the sound back on.

I get anywhere between 20 and 60 FPS at 1024x768 at high quality. It just depends on what I am looking at. It seems like it takes more graphics power to render the displays on the computer consoles and storage lockers. I think I will wait for video cards with 512 meg ram on them before I upgrade. With something like that I am sure I will be able to bump it up to ultra quality. By the time a card comes out with that much ram I will probably be tired of this game anyway. Maybe one will be avalible by the time Quake 4 comes out.

I've been playing this game since the first day and it just continues to amaze me. I absolutly love it. It is by far the best looking, scariest, most immersive game i ever played. I am in Delta Labs 2b right now, not sure how much longer i have to play...but i have been playing for a rather long time already. this game is longer than i thought it would be...and that's a good thing.
I love how most of the enemies and weapons from the first two Dooms have been included. and even though they are drastically different..instantly recognizable. I love how they have redesigned the enemies, they dont look cheesy and stupid..all of them so far have been awesome..and very creepy. (the mancubus is awesome)
i havent run into the hell knight yet, but i have a feeling it will be soon. At first i thought the flashlight would be annoying, but it really adds to the suspense and danger. I have found that the dark empty rooms are generally much scarier than when you actually encounter the enemies though...fear of the unknown i guess.
The audio in this game is awesome, and really immerses you. the wispers are so creepy (they took my baby) and when the screen goes all red....i love that.
It didnt run as well as i had hoped..but i did to the tweak where you adjust the cache..and that helped alot. went from framerats in teh high 20s to the low 40s.
if you are not playing this game on a 5.1 system....you are missing out. I am also playing on my projector, instead of a monitor..so the pc is running through my 5.1 receiver in my living room, and i am playing on a 72" screen...simply amazing.
I am curious to try extracting those files to see if i get an increase in performace...but it is getting late tonight.
system specs:
P4: 3.0ghz, 800mhz FSB, HT enabled
2GB PC3500 dual channel DDR ram (4 x 512mb)
Radeon 9600XT, 256mb video
four 80gb seagate 8mb cache SATA hard drives in Raid 0 on a promise raid controller (128mb cache)
running the game at 800x600 on high settings
i did adjust the video cache value from 20 to 512, which did give me a 10 to 15fps increase on average.
also, just for fun, i installed it on my old PC to see if it would run, and it did. although it was pretty choppy. i didnt test the framerate, but i believe that if i were to adjust the cache value, it may be at least playable.
1.4ghz athlon thunderbird (which is lower than the 1.5ghz minimum requirement)
1.5gb pc133 sdram
geforce 4 mx440 64mb video
i ran it at 640x480, on low settings with all of the advanced options disabled except for bump mapping and i was simply amazed of how well this game still looked. i mean, i wouldnt want to play it on that system unless i had to..but even on the lowest settings like that, it still looked great. ID software really knows what they are doing.

1.4ghz athlon thunderbird (which is lower than the 1.5ghz minimum requirement)
1.5gb pc133 sdram
geforce 4 mx440 64mb video
I'm going to try it out on my 900Athlon t-bird sometime today or tomorrow.
784MB ram (pc133 @ pc100 speeds due to ****e mobo)
GF3 ti500 64MB
Unfortunately, my monitor is from 1999, and doesn't work very well in dark games. For example, I have trouble seeing corners in semi-dark hallways in counter-strike, and can't see a person crouched there... But I'm still looking forward to trying it out!

I just got to Hell and man is it hard! You lose all your weapons and there are really tough demons running around. Some of them take about 50 shots with the plasma gun to kill.
Where's that ?
I hope I'm past there .

Running the built in benchmark gave me a score of 32.3 FPS at 1024*768 at high quality. This is with the cache trick and the latest Nvidia drivers on a 5950 Ultra card. This card used to eat all other games for breakfast (except maybe FarCry). What are you guys getting?

The boss there really looks gruesome and looking at it makes my FPS go from 30 to 6 which adds to the difuculty.

You can always post spoilers as long as you set the text to be the same color as the BG, that way people have to highlight it to find out what it says

1024 High gets me 43 FPS on a 5900 nonultra modded to 5950 @ 510/950. AXP 2.32 Ghz and 512 MB of mem. I think 8x anistropic filtering is on too.

w00t! I got my system running this game now.
900 Athlon
784MB pc133 @ 100 speeds (ECS K7vza v1.0 MOBO issue...)
GF3 ti500, 64MB
Apparantly the vid card was overheating, so I got every spec of dust off it, and put a desktop fan blowing on it. The stupid heatsink barely has any surface area... no wonder it kept dying.
Anyway, I unpacked the PK4 files and did the cache tweak, and it rain fairly well. Sure, my monitor still doesn't do dark areas in general very well, and things become choppy in eye candy intensive areas... But overall, it's very playable with this system.

Or the SPOILER tag could be used.
Like this - to keep things discreet.
Now the gamers would have to highlight the text to read it. ;)

Personally, I don't see how video games have "spoilers" now... I suppose in a way they do, but it just seems strange to me to think of it in that fashion.

What's really funny is that I didn't even intend to post any spoilers. I figured since we were all playing Doom3 here so when I say something like "The boss looks really gruesome" that it would be no surprise to anyone. Looking back though one or two things I said did cross the line so I removed them.
