"I tried installing the thing and it boasts "plug and play" capability. This would be true of my computer would actually recognize it as a "usb device" instead of a "usb root hub". Since I can't get it to recognize it as a usb device I can't install the drivers. When I try installing the thing manually it says the drivers don't supply information about this device. Another thing, while the instructions say that Win98 and Win98SE will detect different driver .dll's, my Win98SE detects the Win98 .dll's, what's up with that. Can anybody help?" can someone help him?

Thanks!

Two things you should check first of all.

1, is usb enabled in bios?
2, is the usb root hub installed properly in windows?

If both the above are fine, then, did you install the drivers first and then plug in the device? The other way around don't work!

I'm pretty sure usb is enabled in bios.. would it detect it if it wasn't? How do I check?

Also, the problem is that I can't install the drivers. Everybody else that has this modem says they didn't have this problem, hmm. When I did a clean install and it was installing all my drivers it worked, but when I rebooted they weren't there anymore and it always recognized it as a usb root hub from then on. According to the instructions I need to to recognize it as a "usb device" or an unknown device, any way to do that manually?
