Hello all, I am new here and although I have searched around a bit, I cant find the answer to my problem.

I bought a new DVD RW from Philips. It is showing on the boot up screen. It is also in the device manager with no conflicts showing.

Every time I insert anything, it come up with the error: Cannot access device, I/O device error.

I have deleted the IDE's and the player in device manager and rebooted to no avail.

I am running XP.

Thanks for the help.

p.s. I am running a german os, thats why it says E/A in the title, but it wont let me edit it, sorry for the confusion.

Ok, I have also tried switching from DMA to PIO on the IDEs and m now getting the following error message. I am translating from german, so it probobly wont be exact:

The data structure is damaged and not readable. This is happening with all CD's and DVD's.

It is a Philips 824RW.

Aspi layer I think try this (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe) after you have installed it, double click aspichk.exe to check it is all ok.
