If you are planning to install the Windows XP Service Pack 2, be advised that Microsoft is saying that some programs may behave differently (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884130&product=windowsxpsp2) They have published a complete list (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884130&product=windowsxpsp2) of known problem software and among them are a few games:

aren't we ALL saying it? why won't they just leave us be....let us find our own fixes that don't work, instead of having corporate, easy download, machine-specific, flashy, shiny, new downloads that don't do crap. grr.

but the firewall is a nice placebo. I like the "pop" sound it makes when it becomes disabled for one reason or another.
