Help Digital photos in camera cannot be downloaded via card reader to pc [Archive]

I just got back from an incredible vacations with lots of incredible once in a lifetime photos. One of my memory cards downloads perfectly with the card reader. The other memory card (same brand and size as the other) will not download. I can see the photos in the camera display, but they won't download. What can the problem be? I really, really, want to salvage these once in a lifetime photos. Please help! If I attempt to download with the camera to PC cable will that work (instead of using the card reader)? I only have one USB port on my PC. Can I simply disconnect the PSB card reader and plug in the USB cable in the same USB port on the PC and not mess anything up as far as again connecting the card reader?

HELP!

Okay, I tried again to get the photos to download to my PC from my card reader. This time I wiped off the Smart Media card with a soft cloth. Guess what! It worked! I am so happy! Low tech solution.
