I have an NEC 2500 DVD Rw and decided to update the firmware as my speeds where so slow, I updated to the 1.07 from the NEC site but since then I have had no luck seeing DVD's in the drive and now my TDK CD Rw will not see blank media either.
I have tried going back to the 1.06 firmware but this has not helped.
Please can someone help?

Welcome to WD Choccy
Firmware updates are permanent, and cannot be reversed.
Did the Firmware upgrade go ok?
Give us more details of the system u are using, Operating System, PC Specs, etc, Software to burn cd/dvd's, etc.

Yes it said it had flashed then asked me to power down.
I am running XP Home on an XP 2500 with 2 HDDs a TDK CDRw and an NEC DVDRw. I use NERO to burn DVD's and CD's.

So you are saying that both an NEC drive and a TDK drive are not functioning?
If you remove the ide cable from the nec and leave it connected to the tdk, what is the result?

Got it sorted by removing the software, reinstalling and ignoring the warnings when burning. Thanks guys and gals.
