I've just bought a liteon dvd burner (SOHW-1213S)a week ago. I had it played some .avi files and it ran perfectly. But after having it to burn a few Cd-Rs, the dvd burner just couldn't run those .avi files smoothly (having sounds glitches). Can it be a driver or firmware issue ? Or the Dvd lens has gone dirty ? (btw i've just burned around 4 dvds and Cd-Rs... and one of dvd that i've burned contains the .avi files which i used it to play)

Any help would be appreciated :)

The avi files used to be played from the hard drive and now you are trying to play them from the DVD?

firmware is available here at liteon (http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_firmware_dvd%20rw.asp) but note the warnings.

What motherboard?
How did you install the dvd burner - which ide port? primary or secondary? What type of ide cable did you use? Have you updated the motherboard drivers?

Ermm... i somehow solved the problem by swapping the master and slave (forgot the name of that small chip) of my dvd writter and dvd reader ...
Anyway thanks for the suggestions :)
