hey guys. i got a problem here. i just got a new pc, new mobo and all the fun stuff. brand new. i been using my for for a while...at least 2 weeks. then last night when i shut down my pc...the next morning there was no sound whatsoever on my pc. i can't listen to my mp3's i can't play a game with sound... there is no sound whatso ever. i tried my speakers they don't give me sound, i tried my headset still nothing. at the boot up of the system i get an error message saying Generic host 2 error blah something appears. and says send error report and don't send... I don't know what's going on. Some ppl said that a possible trojan or a virus has infected my pc. is that true? i already did a norton 2003 virus scan on my whole pc but it didnt' find anything...and my sound card is built into my mobo and it's brand new and i know it's working.. I go under the default sound device and it's all grayed out..as if there is no sound card on my pc at all..it was fine last night i dunno what happened. i also tried rebooting but nothing..can someone plz help? what would u guys recommend?. thanks a lot. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Since it is under warranty - you would be best to contact your pc service provider in case you unintentionally void the warranty by messing with it.

ok well first of all..i had a brand new pc. but it was crap. so i bought new separate parts and i put them together for a new pc. i don't think there's warranty on it...but i have 2.66 ghz processor, 1.00 gb of ram which is pc3200 and i got 240 gb hard disk. The video card i recently bought is ati radeon 9600 256mb. i have the sound on my mobo. and i don't have a sound card but that never has caused a problem...can u guys help?

check in the bios that the onboard sound is enabled.

Install the motherboard drivers Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility V5.02.1003 (http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4C800%20Deluxe)

Reboot then install the updated soundmax driver here (http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4C800%20Deluxe)
