I have a sort of stupid question that falls in the category of "I would really like to know"
Through work, I have found that if a modem sets up on irq 12, it does not work, because irq 12 is used for the system. that is all fine and dandy, but could someone please explain to me why I can use it now???
I installed an ethernet card in my computer tonight, and it took irq 10, which was my modem. I had irq 12 reserved so no other device would take it. The modem tried to go to irq 12, and couldn't find any free irq's. After fiddling with the computer for about an hour, i took the reserve off of irq 12, and let the modem set up there anyway. Now I am able to use it.... why????
irq 3 seemed to be free, as I do not have com 2 enabled, but I could not set the modem up there.... it fought me every step of the way.
