Hello all,

I have a dell dimension 2350, 1.7 gig celeron, 140 gig hdd, 1 gig ram. Im pretty happy but I want to upgrade my video. Ive heard, as im not too familiar with video chips or cards, that I cant upgrade to a card because I have the intel video chip. Is there anything I can do to upgrade, preferably to a video card? Thanks guys.

Let us know how much u plan on spending, accordingly we can recommend some good ones to you, and are u into heavy gaming? If so, that Celeron isnt helping any, its gonna drag down the video performance alot!

In all likely hood just installing a video card into the agp slot will disable the onboard video.
It may also be that you need to turn it off in bios as well
Different machines require different things check the manual

I don't think Dell's 2000 series computers have an AGP slot. They are bottom of the barrell PCs for consumers that don't want to spend a lot of money on a PC, but then limit themselves when it comes to upgradablity. Basically its the Kia Rio of PCs. You may be able to put a PCI graphics card in there, but I have worked on a couple Dell 2300's that could not accept upgraded video. You get what you pay for I always say.

You do not have an AGP slot. You have Intel 845GL video. It is unclear if you can disable the onboard video to install a PCI graphics card. See here for more info:

Thanks guys for all the help,

Its not for serious gaming, if it was Id build a sweet box for it. I mostly d/l movies and music and just want to upgrade my machine a little. Its mostly little errors I notice with the intel chip, like with Americas Army, its a little slow and choppy sometimes. I dont mind spending money for upgrades, should I just build a new computer with some of my dell parts or is it worth it to upgrade video and sound?

Get an FX5200 or better yet an ATI 9200 and a simple sound upgrade, and stick it out.

GF 4 MX Pci is going to be the best bang/buck for PCI cards

He's going for a ATI 9200 PCI card.
