I am trying to locate my Cirrus Modem Manufacturer but cant locate the 17 digit FCC#. I only found a 15 digit number which is
is the FCC REG NO. that number is:
2e0(or o)tai-24973-m5e

I am really anyed by my non-V.90 connection. I have a option under my dial-up menu that say "enable V-90 cnnection" but whenever I enable it, my modem doesnt want to connect to my internet provider. I do have a 56K modem and I dont get why you have to have a V-90 connection also. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.

1. Have you tried the FCC ID search engines linked to this site? Sometimes the first few characters of the ID# is all that is needed to come up with the manufacturer.

2. Do you really want to flash the modem? I have actually experienced slightly lower (self-reported) connect speeds with my Cirrus-based 56k modem after having flashed it V90 at the suggestion of my V90 ISP's tech support staff, and now for some reason the modem won't flash back to X2, even though I have the X2 flash and the restoration to X2 is "theoretically" possible. In the end, the real-world, user-interface, user-preceived change in modem's performance after flashing it V90 is nothing. This state is probably a function of my noisy telco lines, but still flashing the modem was a waste of time.
