Last night Frist talked about health care. He was a well respected surgeon and I give him credit for that(he only practiced for 9 years). But did you know that his family owns HCA/Columbia health care hospital chain? While he personally ONLY owns tens of millions of dollars in the company his brother owns 950 million dollars of it. So when he talks about health care remember he and his family own the largest for profit hospital chain in the country. So he has a vested interest in limiting malpractice claims.
And did you know that HCA has been guilty of both Medicare and Medicaid fraud?

It may have escaped the 'American contingents' attention, but some of us aren't from the US or Canada & so have no bloody idea who this is !
What about a link ? or at least a bit of explanation before we leap into the usual 'taking sides' stuff ..

Umm...I hate to break this to you, but ANY hospital has a vested interest in limiting malpractice claims through tort reform.

Any hospital in stupid countries does :eek2: .. there are many places where its impossible to sue the state for malpractice , which to some extent I agree with, its not like doctors go around killing folks on purpose (or I hope not!) - mistakes/**** happens {which is no consolation at all to anyone hurt/killed), your/our 'compensation culture' & them lawyer-sharkey things is what bumps the claims to stupid amounts ..
But while your health care is done privately I'd say whatever anyone can get away with is fair play & a matter for any jury/judge on a per case basis, if they can make unlimited profits then they can deal with unlimited liability.
So the long & the short of the arguement is that a politician shouldn't be able to influence law/tort on` any sphere he may benefit from ? Well yeah, that's how its supposed to work, but since when was money & american politics seperate ?
You could say this about George himself & oil or before that Clinton & the mob ..

I didn't state that tort reform meant "no lawsuits"....it's the fact that (like you said) the compesation culture is getting out of hand.
I dunno about unlimited profits....I work at a non-profit hospital.

Ah well them I'd exempt or set a maximum claim limit on, but as I'm still non the wiser on just what got proposed (not being a US TV viewer) I can't comment on what Frist is saying ...
This is so far is just a re-hash of the 'they are all in it for themselves & the money' line of arguement, well politicians are in it for the power mostly, & most powerful folks have money, so I'm surpris-ed (not for a change confus-ed :D) that techs is surprised by that ..

Isnt He also in favor of eliminating the IRS, and imposing a flat/usage tax, so that everyone is taxed equally.
Buy a metro pay a little in taxes, Buy a Porshe Pay substantally more then a Metro but still the same rate.
I think the big thing is that he is just bitching about a republican. limiting lawsuits are good. especally since the Democrats want universal health care. thay way the gvt doctors cannot get sued either.
You already cannot sue GOV Hospitals. Like The University of Missouri Hospital. They screwed up and killed my frends wife. He cannot sue the hospital only the people directly responsible..
