Hello!

I was wondering if anyone here can help me. The main problem that I am trying to fix is...

When I turn on my computer, it loads and reaches to my desktop in 15 seconds. But now, when I turn on, my computer loads for a long time at the "Windows is Starting up" screen at EXACTLY 1 minuite! strange! So I kept reading other people's forum to see if they have the same problem, and their remedy is System Restore.

AND NOW, the problem I need help on is stranger than the startup one!!!

When I opened the system restore, it shows me a blank screen. I thought it was a virus or spyware, (my computer is very clean) so I opened adaware and norton antivirus. adaware works but when i opened norton, I get the same blank screen. I clicked on "options" in norton and got a blank screen too. I thought I need a windows update so I went to the update site. When I click "express update" it wont load! I got bored and went to a small website game, it didnt load either!! I looked carefully and noticed that JAVASCRIPT things are not loading!!! Any thing that requred jacasvript popup didnt load, just gave blank too.(windows, other places that need javascript) WOOow! maybe norton and system restore use it to make the text showup instead of a blank screen? I have no idea....

So now, the problem I need help on is to get these blank screens working so I can do system restore. etc.
Please help!!

(I am running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2, problems started at SP1)
(Formatting my computer is not an option for me...lose soo many things!)
(custom level security on internet options are enabled........i think)

have you downloaded a java update? (http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp)

Norton is designed to stop javascript worms - you may have one.

Have you tried reinstalling norton?

Thank you very much NooNoo for replying!!

Thanks for the suggestion, but my system cds are not here, i dont think i can reinstall it.

Ok, I installed the Sun Java console, restarted nothing reems to have happened.

anyway, I tried looking around the web and trying those
JAVA TESTS
so far, all of them say my java is working properly.

I even tried disabling the sp2 pop-upblocker and javascript popup windows still dont work!!

Welcome to windrivers bleu. Same problem - which problem? The system restore problem? The javascript problem? The norton problem? Which dll's are you missing? Also, what service pack level are you running?

As a starting point, I would recommend uninstalling all norton components and reinstalling. If that doesn't clear the problem, click Start\Run and type "sfc /scannow" in the window. This will check your system files for missing/corrupt files.

Thanks much. ALL of the problems started when I tried to upgrade Norton Systemworks. Sounds like K. was able to resolve everything by restoring some dll files. I did uninstall all Norton components and reinstalled them. Same probs. Did the Start\Run and type "sfc /scannow" thing and a black screen popped up for only a second with data then immediately closed. I'm running XP SP2. Please offer more help?
